Stroke Research in Stoke

Stoke-on-Trent is the hub of the WMIDS Stroke Research Network, which facilitates the conduct of high quality stroke research studies in hospitals in the West Midlands. The University Hospital of North Staffordshire in Stroke-on-Trent has recently been selected as one of 8 hyperacute Stroke Research Centres in England. This will allow us to give more patients the chance to participate in groundbreaking acute stroke research.

Stroke Research in Stoke is generated and conducted in collaborations between staff from the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, the North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust, and Keele University. Key themes are the diagnosis and management of hypoxia after stroke, stroke rehabilitation, spasticity, and life after stroke. We have regular meetings to discuss the development and conduct of studies and monthly research presentations.  Please chick here if you are interested in getting involved.

This website provides information and links relating to the Stroke Research Network, contacts for and publications of local stroke researchers, guidance for developing and conducting research projects and for writing up results.
